WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, is again confronting the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Endocrine Society for pressuring the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) to remove age limitations on gender surgeries that protect children from irreversible harm.
"These organizations are defying science and promoting irreversible gender transition surgeries for children," said Dr. Cassidy. "American families deserve to know why some of the leading medical organizations in the world prioritize politics over their children."
Cassidy previously asked the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to partner with him on this investigation and provide past communications and documents between former Biden officials, WPATH, and other medical organizations.
As Chairman of the HELP Committee, Cassidy is leading efforts to support President Trump's pro-family agenda and protect children from dangerous gender transition procedures. Cassidy recently joined HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at an event announcing a new policy preventing tax dollars from funding these dangerous procedures for children. He also introduced the No Subsidies for Gender Transition Procedures Act to prohibit taxpayer funded gender transition procedures under Medicaid, Medicare, the Children's Health Insurance Program, and the Affordable Care Act.
