Pain Medicine Expert Discusses Measuring Pain in Children with the Atlantic
Pain can be a very personal experience that may be hard for patients to assess on a pain scale. Julia Finkel, MD, Division Chief of Pain Medicine, and her team at the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation are working to develop devices and alternate ways to help understand and measure pain in children who can't express their discomfort. Dr. Finkel shares with the Atlantic how the team has used video games to help a non-verbal autistic child with pain.
