The City of Yuma will temporarily close Bark Park beginning April 20 to complete repairs to a wall that runs parallel to the residential property bordering the park. Work is expected to take approximately four weeks.
The wall has begun to tilt and show signs of deterioration, prompting the need for repairs. During the closure, Parks and Recreation crews will also complete irrigation and ground improvements.
"This work is necessary to ensure the long-term viability of the park," said Parks and Recreation Director Eric Urfer. "Due to the nature of the project and the heavy equipment that will be used, the park must be closed to ensure the safety of park patrons and their pets. We will also take advantage of the temporary closure to complete much-needed repairs to the irrigation system and ground conditions."
The City appreciates the community's patience and understanding during this temporary closure.
