5th Meeting of the Joint Committee between EUBAM Libya and Libyan Counterparts

On 7 September, the fifth Joint Committee meeting between EUBAM Libya and its Libyan counterparts was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tripoli.

The meeting was conducted in a constructive atmosphere, with EUBAM Libya providing an update on Mission mandate extension and outlining upcoming activities.

Head of Mission (HoM), Jan Vyčítal, highlighted that EUBAM Libya will continue consolidating ongoing efforts to enhance capacities and infrastructure on the western border. He also noted Mission's focus on building on achievements in the maritime domain, including support to enhance search and rescue capabilities of Libyan agencies.

Furthermore, he stressed the importance of collaboration in countering cross-border crime, particularly in the field of forensics, and encouraged Libyan counterparts to take full advantage of the Mission's advisory expertise.

It was agreed that the next Joint Committee will take place in the beginning of December 2025.
