MONROE COUNTY - Georgia Department of Transportation rapid response crews starting Monday, November 18, 2024, Quick Response will start a new project in Monroe County. Crews will be improving radii on SR 18 at Patrol Road.
Lane closures will be kept to a minimum and will have 60 days to complete.
The project aims to enhance the northeast corner of the intersection, accommodating the considerable amount of right-turning trucks. Specifically, the plan involves the installation of a durable concrete truck apron, designed to manage trucks that over-track and prevent further damage to the grass shoulder. Additionally, the project includes the relocation of pedestrian push buttons to the signal strain pole for better accessibility and to keep them clear of traffic.
Advisory: Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
