Chinese Consul General in Willemstad Zhang Kaibin Attends and Addresses 2026 Chinese Spring Festival Reception

On February 2nd, 2026, Chinese Consulate in Willemstad held 2026 Spring Festival Reception. Consul General Zhang Kaibin, Curaçao's Prime Minister Pisas, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Hato, Minister of Traffic Cooper, Minister of Education van Heydoorn, Minister of Health Boekhoudt, Vice President of the Curcao Parliament Ramon, and about 200 representatives of local Chinese communities and media gathered together to celebrate Spring Festival.

Consul General Zhang extended New Year greetings to the guests. He said China's 14th Five-Year Plan for national economic and social development was successfully concluded. China will comprehensively advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese modernization. It will keep bringing stability to the world. China is ready to strengthen cooperation with the Dutch Caribbean and hopes the local Chinese community will promote friendship between the two sides.

Hato spoke on behalf of the Curaçao government. He spoke highly of the contributions the Chinese community has made to local development for a long time. He stressed that Curaçao values its relations with China. Curacao are willing to keep strengthening dialogue and promoting cooperation on the basis of mutual respect.

The guests enjoyed Chinese New Year paintings, dragon and lion dances and cultural performances by local Chinese school, and everyone had a great time. Many media outlets covered the grand occasion of the reception.
