Plan your summer adventures with this list of fun city events and activities. The city of Aurora hosts a variety of events for all ages throughout the year to bring the community together and support local programs, organizations and venues across the city. Consider getting involved and inviting your Aurora neighbors to participate.

Outdoor pools open for season June 1
Dive into fun this summer at Aurora's six outdoor pools! Pools open Monday, June 1 and will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Aqua Vista, Del Mar, Meadow Hills and Parklane will be open every day, Monday through Sunday; Pheasant Run and Village Green will be open weekdays and closed Saturday and Sunday. Beginning Sunday, Aug. 9, Del Mar Pool will be open weekends only through Labor Day. All other pools will be closed start Aug. 9.

We Are Aurora Youth - Summer Break
Designed to give youth who are Aurora residents a fun and safe place to hang out during school breaks. Youth can receive free entry to designated recreation centers on weekdays from noon to 7 p.m. Youth will be able to participate in staff-led activities* such as basketball, volleyball, flag football, soccer, esports, board games and gift card competitions.
When: Weekdays, through Aug. 7, noon to 7 p.m. (excluding June 19 and July 3)

Summer of Imagination: Unearth a Story
Visit Aurora Public Library to unearth a story! For ten weeks, children, teens, and adults can explore their library and be part of the summer reading program, for free! Participants who sign up will receive a free book, an activity log filled with reading challenges and engaging activities and the chance to win exciting prizes along the way.

eParent's Night Out

The Aurora Fox Arts Center presents "Violet"
Experience live theater with the award-winning contemporary musical "Violet." Presented by the Aurora Fox Arts Center and Phamaly Theatre Company, this powerful production follows a young woman's transformative journey across the American South in search of healing, belonging and self-acceptance. Featuring a roots-inspired score by Jeanine Tesori and Brian Crawley, "Violet" is based on Doris Betts' "The Ugliest Pilgrim" and blends heartfelt storytelling with folk, gospel and blues influences.

Prairie Thunder Powwow
Join us for Aurora's first traditional powwow! Learn about and experience Native American culture through song and dance. Event will feature Native American vendors and Indian tacos by Marie Yellowhawk. Donations also accepted to support the Colorado Native Outreach Project. Parking is limited; please carpool or consider using a ride share.

Experience "The World in a City" at Aurora Fest
This free, family-friendly summer festival and the city of Aurora's signature event will feature two stages with more than 20 live performances, 46 merchandise vendors, 29 food trucks and stalls with dishes and treats from around the world. A special drone show will celebrate the country's and state's milestone birthdays, along with animations honoring Aurora.

Denver Native American Dance Troupe and 4th of July Fireworks
Join us to experience Native American dances and songs of the Great Plains. Every performance is supplemented with stories of origin for the different dance styles and explanations of the regalia. The troupe provides enlightenment to help build awareness and unity among cultures and people by educating those willing to learn. After the performance, we will gather together to watch the fireworks across the Denver area from the high elevation of the Plains Conservation Center.

Signature Park Public Meeting
Signature Park is a 147-acre undeveloped community park in north-central Aurora, located near S. Airport Boulevard/S. Buckley Road and E. Alameda Parkway. The city of Aurora is updating the park's master plan to create a long-term vision that reflects community priorities, protects natural resources, and expands recreational opportunities. The future park will blend nature, recreation, and community for years to come. Join city of Aurora and Dig Studio staff to review the final concepts during this public meeting.

Highline Canal One-Mile Or 5K Walk
The walk will begin and end at the ACAA and will start with a 20-minute group yoga session as a warmup. You will have the option to either walk one mile or a 5k with a group.

Monarch Tagging - Community Science Project
This is a community science program run across the country to track the monarch migration. Learn about monarchs before going out into the field to catch, tag, and release them. No experience required.
