Justice Committee to meet for pre legislative scrutiny of the International Protection Bill 2025

The Joint Committee on Justice, Home Affairs and Migration will meet on Tuesday October 21st for pre-legislative scrutiny of the general scheme of the International Protection Bill 2025.

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House between 15:00-17:30.

Representatives from the Children's Rights Alliance, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Ireland, Safetynet Primary Care, Nasc, the Bar of Ireland, Irish Refugee Council will appear at the Committee.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Matt Carthy said: "We look forward to resuming our pre-legislative scrutiny of this important piece of legislation."

"Last week we met with representatives and Officials from the Child and Family Agency (Tusla), Doras, Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission, the Ombudsman for Children's Office and the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration."

"Stakeholders have expressed a range of concerns regarding the general scheme of the Bill."

"This week's Committee meeting will involve further discussions with witnesses to inform the pre-legislative scrutiny report of the Committee."
