Reconstruction of 137 Avenue over Horseshoe Creek to begin

Reconstruction of 137 Avenue over Horseshoe Creek is expected to begin the first week of September and take approximately nine weeks to complete, weather permitting.
The road and nearby pedestrian bridge were closed June 22 after heavy rainfall caused significant erosion and made the crossing unsafe. The City is working with EPCOR to restore safe access as quickly as possible.
The work will include installing a new culvert, stabilizing the creek slopes, rebuilding the roadway and embankment and constructing a new shared pathway alongside the new roadway. Final paving and landscaping may be deferred until 2027 due to weather, but this will not affect the roadway reopening.
While 137 Avenue remains closed, residents can access communities west of Horseshoe Creek via 199 Street, 118A Avenue and Winterburn Road (215 Street).
To ensure your safety, please stay clear of the work area and do not cross barricades. The City will provide updates as construction progresses.
