Mobridge Regional Hospital and Clinics Launches DAISY Award to Honor Extraordinary Nurses
Mobridge Regional Hospital and Clinics (MRH&C) is proud to announce the launch of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, a new program that recognizes the skill, compassion, and dedication of nurses across all MRH&C facilities.
The DAISY Award is an international program that celebrates the exceptional care nurses provide to patients and families every day. Through this program, patients, family members, and coworkers can nominate nurses who go above and beyond to deliver not only excellent clinical care but also kindness and compassion.
"At Mobridge Regional Hospital and Clinics, our nurses make a difference in people's lives every single day," said Carol Stewart, Chief Nursing Officer at MRH&C. "The DAISY Award is a wonderful way to show our gratitude and recognize those moments of extraordinary care that often go unspoken but never go unnoticed."
About the DAISY Award
The DAISY Award was created by the family of Patrick Barnes, who passed away in 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease. Deeply touched by the compassion shown by Patrick's nurses during his illness, his family established the DAISY Foundation (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) to say "thank you" to nurses everywhere. Today, thousands of healthcare facilities and nursing schools around the world participate in the DAISY Award program.
How to Nominate a Nurse
Anyone can nominate a nurse for the DAISY Award - patients, family members, fellow staff, or community members who have witnessed exceptional care. Nomination forms are available at each of our locations as well as online at https://team.getwell.health/public/rounds/daisy/5692.
Each nomination is carefully reviewed by an internal committee. Selected DAISY Honorees will be recognized in a special ceremony surrounded by their peers, leadership, and loved ones. Every honoree receives a DAISY certificate, a beautiful hand-carved "Healer's Touch" sculpture from Zimbabwe, and treats, usually cinnamon rolls to share - a DAISY tradition that began with the Barnes family.
Even nurses who are nominated but not selected receive special recognition for the positive impact they've made on patients and families.
Celebrating Compassion in Our Community
"The DAISY Award is an opportunity for those who would like to share their thoughts and experiences with an exceptional nurse or nurses. A chance to say thank you or highlight efforts, actions, and behaviors that went above and beyond." said John Ayoub, CEO at MRH&C. "We hear stories every day about how our nurses comfort, encourage, and care for patients in ways that make all the difference. This program helps us shine a light on those moments."
Mobridge Regional Hospital and Clinics encourages community members to share their stories and help celebrate the incredible nurses who serve the region with compassion and excellence.
