Joint platform explores social and economic rights in rural areas

FRA took part in a meeting of the Council of Europe, FRA, ENNHRI and Equinet Collaborative Platform on Social and Economic Rights. The event also marked the 10th anniversary of the Platform.

The focus of this year's meeting was rights and rurality. It looked at the challenges and opportunities for the full realisation of socio-economic rights for rural communities in Europe.

FRA took part in a panel on legal frameworks and gaps. It explored the effective protection of social and economic rights in rural areas. It discussed how data and findings from various areas of research can be used to shape better advance social rights for all and strengthen rights-based approaches to rural development.

The meeting took place in Edinburgh from 2 to 3 October.
