DENSO supports community spaces as it celebrates 35 years in Maryville, commemorates team members and neighbors
MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 19, 2025) ― DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee, Inc. (DMTN), in collaboration with the City of Maryville, Leadership Blount, and the Downtown Maryville Alliance, today celebrated the unveiling of a new pavilion and arboretum in local greenspaces. The project marks a significant milestone as DENSO celebrates its 35th anniversary in Maryville and underscores the company's ongoing commitment to community partnership and environmental stewardship. The new pavilion, located in Bicentennial Park and measuring more than 1,500 square feet, is a gathering place for Maryville residents and visitors. It also stands as a tribute to the team members, partners, and community members who have shaped DENSO's legacy in the city. "This space commemorates everyone who has made our journey in Maryville possible, and we can't wait for the community to enjoy it," said Chuntao Ye, president of DMTN and the business leader of DENSO's North America Peace of Mind Business Group. "We are deeply grateful to the City of Maryville, the Downtown Maryville Alliance, and Leadership Blount for their support and partnership-not only for this project, but throughout our history. Their commitment to a strong, healthy community makes moments like this possible, and we're proud to stand alongside them." DENSO and its partners also unveiled a new arboretum, which occupies portions of Bicentennial Park, the Maryville-Alcoa Greenway Trail and Jack Greene Park. This area already features abundant greenery, but as part of the opening, DENSO and partners planted the first of 35 trees that will soon come to the space, each representing one year of DENSO's operations in Maryville. The trees also reflect DENSO's focus on its Two Great Causes, Green and Peace of Mind. "This project represents DENSO's commitment to our team members, our communities and to the environment," said Tomoyuki "Tom" Arakawa, CEO of DENSO in North America. "As we look ahead, may it remind us of what we've built together and inspire us to keep growing together for many years to come." "We are immensely proud of and grateful for Maryville's 35-year partnership with DENSO," said Maryville Mayor Andy White. "Over those years, DENSO has created opportunities for families through thousands of great jobs, community financial and volunteer support, educational opportunities for our young people, and efforts like this pavilion and arboretum project that make our spaces more beautiful. DENSO is and will remain an integral part of the fabric of this great community. We look forward to many more decades together and congratulate DENSO on this incredible milestone." "After years of effort from the Downtown Maryville Alliance's Design Committee volunteers, alongside the recent work of the Leadership Blount Class of '25 small group project, and with the support of Maryville City leadership and the generous trust and support of DENSO, we are proud to announce the official accreditation of the Downtown Maryville Arboretum," said Chris Hackler, a member of the Downtown Maryville Alliance Design Committee and member of the Leadership Blount Class of 2025. The pavilion and arboretum are the latest in a series of community-focused initiatives marking DENSO's 35th anniversary in Maryville. Since opening its doors in 1990, DMTN has grown alongside the city, building strong relationships with local leaders and organizations and investing in projects that benefit team members and neighbors alike. To continue its 35th anniversary celebrations, DENSO will host a team member appreciation event on Saturday, Sept. 20, where employees and family members will be able to enjoy food, games and opportunities to connect outside of work.
