In a historic move for the city of Jhelum, the first-ever electric public transport bus service was officially inaugurated today under the visionary project of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Minister of State for Finance and Railways, Bilal Azhar Kayani, performed the inauguration alongside Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar, Advisor to the Chief Minister General (R) Azhar Kayani, and other prominent political leaders. The project launched with a fleet of 15 electric buses operating on three major routes, providing modern and eco-friendly commuting facilities to the citizens. The inauguration ceremony was met with immense public enthusiasm, as thousands of residents lined the streets, chanting slogans in favor of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Addressing a public gathering in Jhelum, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani emphasized that the introduction of this service is a continuation of the Pakistan Muslim League (N)'s tradition of exemplary public service. He stated that the government has not only saved the country from default in the past year but has also stabilized the economy to provide direct relief to the masses. Mr. Kayani highlighted that the elderly, women, youth, and workers of Jhelum now have access to safe, dignified, and affordable transport. He also paid a glowing tribute to the brave armed forces, stating that under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the nation has successfully thwarted enemy designs on every front, and the entire country stands proud of its military leadership.
Looking ahead, Bilal Azhar Kayani announced further development milestones for the region, including the completion of the Lilla-Jhelum Road within the next six months and the upcoming inauguration of the first state-of-the-art Cath Lab at the DHQ Hospital Jhelum. He credited Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for transforming the healthcare and infrastructure landscape of Jhelum through grand sewerage schemes and the revitalization of Basic and Rural Health Centers. The Minister concluded by assuring the public that the number of buses and routes would be expanded, promising that the coming years will mark a new era of accelerated growth and prosperity for Pakistan.
