Authorizing norms to be provided by legislative initiative

The Government has approved the Disaster Risk Management Strategy for 2023-2030 and the action plan for 2023-2026 resulting from it, which proposes a comprehensive change in civil defense plans and population protection scheme in general. The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Sargsyan said this. On October 1, the Parliament debated in the first reading the package of draft laws on Making Addendum to the Law on Safe Use of Atomic Energy for Peaceful Purposes and Making Addendum to the Law on Aviation.

"We need to introduce amendments in the sub-legislative field in accordance with the new strategic approaches. It is proposed to provide authorizing norms for the Government," the Deputy Minister detailed. She informed that in the near future, a new legislative initiative related to the changes in the block of disaster risk management will be submitted to the National Assembly for debate, by which the population and civil protection will undergo significant changes.

The co-rapporteur, the member of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security Kristine Poghosyan, presenting the endorsement of the Committee on the draft, proposed to vote for it.
