Meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in Moscow on 28 August.

The Belarusian head of state noted that the meeting with the Russian prime minister had been planned for a long time and was being held ahead of the talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin scheduled for the following day. "We will discuss many issues with him," he said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko extended his gratitude to Mikhail Mishustin and the Russian government for flawlessly delivering on their promises to Belarus.

"I think you also have no grounds for any complaints against Belarus. I must once again publicly assure you that everything we planned is being implemented and will be accomplished," the Belarusian leader emphasized. "From minor details regarding fuel - different types of diesel, gasoline, and so on - to food products, we are meeting our commitments and even exceeding them. You can have no doubt about that. This applies all the way to serious, systemic issues within our union and within the EAEU."

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: "Bearing future in mind, we will talk about our common problem that we have to resolve in Belarus' south and the Russian Federation's west. It is indeed a problem. But we will resolve it. We will resolve it regardless of whatever anyone wants. We have already puzzled out how some parties do not want or want things and we understand very well what is going on around us."

"This is why since we have to tackle all issues together, I wish us to be able to handle these problems. But we will handle them," the Belarusian leader added.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that Mikhail Mishustin is expected in Belarus in early October. This period will feature meetings of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia and the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, while Minsk will simultaneously host the 2nd INNOPROM. "We have a number of events of particular interest to Mikhail Mishustin. You must certainly come," the Belarusian President said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled that he also recently held a meeting with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov in Minsk: "We held a meaningful meeting with him. It concerned not only industry, but we also spoke a lot about the economy of our states. We reaffirmed our joint projects in both aircraft manufacturing and the military-industrial complex. We found full mutual understanding on all issues."

The head of state welcomed the excellent working relationship established between Mikhail Mishustin and his counterpart, the Belarusian Prime Minister. "Former Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi [currently serving as Head of the Belarus President Administration] is still very much in the picture. He is tied very closely to our agenda. I know that you are on good terms," the Belarusian leader noted.
