Croatia-funded school opens in Hatay

The construction of the school was funded by the Republic of Croatia through a €2.5 million donation, with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Office in Türkiye as its project partner.
The Turkish province of Hatay, which was the hardest hit by the devastating 2023 earthquake, was selected as the location for the school. The school is intended for students aged 10 to 14 and has 16 classrooms, with capacity for 1,120 students and 120 members of teaching and other school staff.
The school was built under the "Croatia Builds Inclusive Schools" Project (CRISP), implemented in partnership with UNDP and aimed at restoring educational infrastructure and promoting inclusive education for children with disabilities.
The school is fully equipped and fully accessible to students and teachers with disabilities, directly putting into practice the principles of accessible and inclusive education.
