The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) has urged Governor Hochul to veto the Responsible AI Safety and Education (RAISE) Act (A.6453/S.6953), warning that while well-intentioned, the bill's broad and prescriptive requirements would slow innovation and risk driving AI development out of New York.
In its letter, SIIA highlights concerns over unworkable pre-deployment obligations, sweeping liability for third-party uses, and the potential to fragment national efforts on AI safety. Instead, SIIA encourages collaboration on approaches that balance safety and innovation without undermining New York's leadership in AI.
