Washington, D.C. - Congressman Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07), representing the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos, presented Bloom for Women with the Ed Stout Memorial Award for Outstanding Victim Advocacy at today's Crime Survivors and Justice Award Ceremony at the Library of Congress. Congressman Mackenzie nominated Bloom for the award earlier in the year.
Bloom for Women, based in Bethlehem, was honored for its work supporting survivors of human trafficking and helping women rebuild their lives through long-term housing, case management, and job-readiness programs.
The Ed Stout Memorial Award recognizes organizations and individuals whose work directly benefits victims and survivors of crime and advances victim services through innovation, public awareness, and collaboration.
"Congratulations to Bloom for Women for receiving this prestigious award," said Congressman Mackenzie. "Bloom has been a source of courage, hope, and change in our community - not just for victims of trafficking, but for everyone who hears the stories of the people they've served. We're grateful to the women of Bloom for all that they do to liberate the most vulnerable in our communities, and we were honored to nominate them for this well-deserved recognition."
"At Bloom, in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania, we have the privilege of walking alongside survivors every day-providing safe housing, meaningful employment, advocacy, and a clear pathway to freedom. In a time when too many victim voices are still overlooked or unheard, we have an opportunity-and a responsibility-to listen and lead differently. Because when survivors lead, systems change. And when systems change-lives do too," said Bloom for Women CEO, Carol Anderson.
Bloom for Women provides a long-term residential program in the Lehigh Valley, offering survivors a safe and supportive environment to heal from trauma and build a path forward. The organization also connects participants with mental health support, education, and employment opportunities to promote long-term stability and independence.
The bipartisan Congressional Crime Survivors and Justice Caucus hosts the annual awards during National Crime Victims' Rights Week to recognize leaders and organizations delivering critical support to victims and survivors across the country.
