About the Jewish Policy Center

The Jewish Policy Center (JPC) is uniquely positioned to grow and expand its decades of programming to help influence and inspire government officials, thought leaders and members of the public.

Founded in 1985, the JPC is the 501(c)(3) non-partisan policy think tank affiliated with the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC). It is one of the leading conservative public policy organizations in the US, promoting conservative foreign and domestic policies affecting the American Jewish community and the country. The JPC has a dynamic portfolio of publications, media, and public forums supported by a dedicated staff. Expert policy leadership is provided by senior staff working in coordination with a group of experienced, well respected, high profile Fellows and Trustees, with additional contributions from a variety of outside policy contributors.

Headquartered in Washington, DC, the JPC is led separately from the RJC and operated as a 501(c)(3). JPC has a national reputation of trust in promoting policies advancing strong national security, US-Israel security cooperation, fiscal responsibility, free speech and intellectual diversity, as well as countering Islamic extremism and combatting antisemitism. The organization and its staff also benefit from collaboration with the RJC and its multiple regional offices across the United States.

Position Summary

The JPC Director reports to the CEO, who also serves as the CEO for the RJC, currently Matt Brooks. The JPC Director will plan and execute all activities and operations of the Center, based on the mission statement and strategic vision developed in collaboration with the CEO and the Board of Trustees.

The position requires both substantive and administrative skills, including fundraising; public speaking; familiarity with and ability to work with the organized Jewish community and its senior personnel; and contacts with subject experts, media, and government. Clear, concise, factual writing is essential, and computer capabilities are a plus. Ability to conduct webinars and interviews, or willingness to learn, is a plus.

Travel will be required.

Salary

Competitive, commensurate with experience.

Priorities

The Director's chief priority will be to advance JPC's mission; to provide strategic vision and leadership; to establish and execute its objectives and priorities; and to measure the impact and results of those activities. Specifically:

Writing (Policy)

inSIGHT Articles

The JPC aims for weekly articles to be published in leading Jewish and secular media outlets. Those are then reposted on the JPC website and emailed to members. Subjects are both domestic and foreign policy. Israel and the Middle East are central; US defense is a close second.

inCONTEXT Articles

Reprinted from other sources and appearing on the JPC website with the permission of the author. This allows the JPC to present information beyond the skills of the organization's management. Finding relevant pieces and acquiring permission is required.

inFOCUS Quarterly

Interview, book review, and occasional journal-length articles are the responsibility of the editor and associate editors. Other requirements include:

  • Determine the theme
  • Invite authors and discuss their ideas to ensure alignment with the theme
  • Monitor submissions and prod authors missing deadlines
  • Oversee the editing of submitted articles
  • Organize and conduct the centerpiece interview, including inviting the guest, writing questions, conducting, and editing the interview

Meetings

  • The JPC holds meetings on Capitol Hill, working with Members and staff regarding critical areas of US policy and US-Israel security cooperation
  • These meetings are planned and run in cooperation with RJC staff members and key partners
  • The JPC organizes in-person meetings for its members and cooperates with other organizations to expand the audience
  • The JPC webinar series brings members together for an educational experience
  • There are generally about 40 programs in a calendar year
  • The host is responsible for contacting the guest, writing questions, and conducting the interview

Administration

Fundraising

  • Donation requests to members
  • Face-to-face meetings with donors and potential donors
  • "End of the Year" and other donation letters
  • Grant proposals, including research on relevant foundations
  • List management, both email and direct mail
  • Donor lists, professional contact list, media list

Social Media

  • Expanding the reach of the JPC on Facebook, X, and other platforms used by members and supporters

The JPC Director will serve as the primary public policy spokesperson for the organization, both in print and in person, speaking at press conferences, participating in print and television interviews, and testifying before Congress. The Director will provide clear and consistent messaging about the JPC's goals, priorities, and uses of funding. S/he will engage Board members as well as corporate sponsors and affiliates and enhance relationships in the pro-Israel conservative ecosystem for strategic advantage to both.
