Wednesday, Dec. 24, Update
10:15 a.m. - A Flood Watch remains in effect through 10:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, for the Bay Area and Central Coast.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms and a 2% probability of tornadoes for coastal portions of the Bay Area and Central Coast on Wednesday, Dec. 24. The weather forecast calls for winds continuing through the morning and a lull during the day before strong winds resume tonight through Thursday, Dec. 25.
Per PG&E, there are over 300 meters out of service in Mountain View as of 10:15 a.m. this morning, with an estimated restoration time of 4:00 p.m. For status updates, visit the PG&E Outage Center.
Tuesday, Dec. 23, Update
8:30 a.m. - The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory, which remains in effect from 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, to 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24. Per NWS, southeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph are expected with very strong and damaging winds from Tuesday through early Friday, especially along the coast and in higher inland elevations. Potential weather impacts include gusty winds blowing around unsecured objects and tree limbs could be blown down.
According to the current forecast, the South Bay is expected to experience fewer storm impacts than the rest of the Bay Area. A few power outages are likely, and residents are urged to prepare.
Sand and sandbags are available at no charge to Mountain View residents at the City's Municipal Operations Center, 231 North Whisman Road. Bring a shovel to fill the sandbags.

Monday, Dec. 22, Updates
4:45 p.m. - The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch for the entire Bay Area, minus Solano County, from 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23 until 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24.
According to the weather service, southerly winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are possible. Damaging winds could bring down trees and power lines, resulting in property damage.
Widespread power outages are also possible. If an outage does occur, visit PG&E's online outage center for status updates.
9:55 a.m. - The National Weather Services has extended a Flood Watch through 10:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, across the North Bay. The NWS has also issued a Flood Watch from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, through 10:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, for the rest of the Bay Area, including Mountain View, and Central Coast.
According to NWS, moderate to heavy rain associated with an atmospheric river will bring 2-5" in the valleys, with up to 6-8" in the coastal mountains. Creeks and streams could see rapid rises during and after heavy rainfall. Standing water is likely in urban areas and on low-lying roadways. Remember: Turn around, don't drown!
