Bengaluru, India - January 19, 2025 - Dolby Laboratories, Inc., Inc. (NYSE: DLB), a global leader in immersive entertainment experiences, and AMB Cinemas, one of South India's most prestigious multiplex chains founded by Asian Group in partnership with superstar Mahesh Babu, today announced the launch of Bengaluru's first Dolby Cinema® at AMB Cinemas, Kapali. It marks the second Dolby Cinema in India, following the successful debut in Pune just five months ago, and represents a pivotal expansion of Dolby Cinema's presence in the Indian subcontinent.
With Dolby Cinema opening at AMB Cinemas, Kapali, it is set to transform how Bengaluru experiences movies, giving audiences the chance to see and hear stories exactly as filmmakers intended, starting with the release of Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. This marks a major milestone in premium cinema experience, setting a new benchmark in visual and audio excellence while reinforcing Dolby's commitment to elevating entertainment through cutting-edge innovations. The 588-seater Dolby Cinema at the 9-screen AMB Cinemas, Kapali, located in the heart of Bengaluru, has been purpose-built from the ground up to deliver next-generation immersion for audiences who demand world-class storytelling.
A premium offering for moviegoers, Dolby Cinema unlocks the emotional impact of every movie, allowing audiences to see the subtle details and ultravivid colours of Dolby Vision® and immersive sound of Dolby Atmos®. With Dolby Vision, the picture comes alive with incredible brightness, deeper darks, and a lifelike sense of depth that renders colours and details in ways conventional screens cannot. Studio-quality Dolby Atmos transports guests inside the story with multidimensional sound that flows all around the audience, including overhead, enveloping viewers and making the on-screen world feel real. Dolby Cinema fully realizes the filmmaker's creative intent by placing moviegoers at the very centre of the action.
This immersive experience is elevated further by the signature Dolby Cinema design, a meticulously engineered environment featuring a wall-to-wall-to-ceiling curved screen, precise acoustic treatments, and distraction-free architecture. Every seat in the auditorium is optimized for comfort, clear sightlines, and a consistently "best seat in the house" experience.
With Bengaluru becoming the second city in India to welcome this global premium format, the launch strengthens AMB Cinemas' position as a leader in premium exhibition and aligns the brand with the premium global standards of cinematic excellence.

Asian Cinemas, under the tutelage of Mr. Narayandas K. Narang, has carved a niche in the South Indian Film industry, with their innovations in film exhibition. After close to a decade's pilgrimage of making cinema available to the mass populace of Telangana, in 2018, Asian Cinemas collaborated with Superstar Mr. Mahesh Babu Ghattamaneni and Mrs. Namrata Shirodkar Ghattamaneni to launch India's first "superplex", AMB cinemas, redefining the luxury cinema watching experience.
The launch comes as the content offerings in Dolby continue to grow, with over 800 theatrical features released or confirmed to be released in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos to date globally, including all of the top 20 highest grossing films worldwide in 2025 as well as popular India titles like Baabubali - The Epic, Kantara: A Legend - Chapter 1, War 2, Game Changer, Pushpa: The Rule - Part 2 to name a few.
With this opening, AMB Cinemas joins the global network of Dolby Cinema exhibitors spanning 15 countries, further strengthening Dolby's commitment to bringing world-class cinematic experiences to audiences across India.
