Spain condemns Iran's new attacks against Turkey, Azerbaijan and Gulf Cooperation Council countries

PRESS STATEMENT 024

Spain condemns Iran's new attacks against Turkey, Azerbaijan and Gulf Cooperation Council countries

Today
The Spanish Government strongly condemns Iran's latest attacks in Turkey and Azerbaijan, which come on top of attacks against Gulf Cooperation Council member countries, particularly Qatar, where eight people were injured today, and reiterates its solidarity with these friendly countries.

These indiscriminate attacks by Iran, including on civilian targets, are totally unjustifiable under international law, constitute flagrant violations of the sovereignty and integrity of these countries and increase the risk of escalation.

Spain reiterates its commitment to a return to diplomacy and dialogue for urgent de-escalation, which will enable work to be done to ensure the security and stability of the region.
