O'Bagy Brings Broad National Security Experience, Will Oversee the AI and Trade Policy Advocacy
Washington, D.C. - TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, today announced Liz O'Bagy is joining the organization as Federal Policy Director. Based in Washington, D.C., O'Bagy will play an important role in driving TechNet's federal policy advocacy on key priorities, including artificial intelligence, trade, and other key issues.
"It has never been more critical to preserve and protect the United States' standing as the global leader in innovation. Liz's wealth of experience in Washington, coupled with her deep national security background, will make her an invaluable addition to our team as we navigate complex issues like AI and trade. We are thrilled to have her on board," said Linda Moore, TechNet President and CEO.
"The United States must lead globally on artificial intelligence to maintain our economic strength and national security. Liz's extensive international experience will be invaluable as we navigate the global AI discussion, ensuring that America remains at the forefront of responsible development and deployment. In addition, her leadership on trade will be critical as we combat punitive digital services taxes and address critical supply chain issues, such as securing access to semiconductors and powering the AI economy," said Carl Holshouser, Executive Vice President and Head of Federal Policy and Government Relations, TechNet.
"I'm excited to join the TechNet team at a time when cutting-edge AI technology increasingly drives policy discussions. Keeping America at the forefront of responsible AI development and deployment is not only an economic imperative but also a national security necessity. I look forward to collaborating with Linda, Carl, and the entire team to ensure the U.S. leads the next era of innovation," said O'Bagy.
Before joining TechNet, O'Bagy served as the Senior Foreign Policy and Defense Advisor to Senator Chris Coons (D-DE). Prior to joining the Senate, she was a senior official with the United Nations, where she acted as a liaison between the U.N. and the United States government. Previously, O'Bagy served as Foreign Policy Advisor to the late Senator John McCain (R-AZ), advising him on foreign affairs, national security policy, and trade. O'Bagy holds an MA in Arab Studies from Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service and received her undergraduate degree in Arabic Language from Georgetown University. She has lived in Tunisia, Morocco, Syria, and Egypt and conducted field research in Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey.
