VIDEO: Senator Moody Brings Veterans Bill of Rights Act to Thousands of Florida Veterans

ORLANDO, Fla.-Senator Ashley Moody answered the call to join thousands of Florida veterans in Orlando today at the state conventions of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. During the conventions, Senator Moody thanked the American heroes for their courageous service and honored the generations of veterans who have served and defended the nation for 250 years. Senator Moody also announced she was cosponsoring new legislation to strengthen protections for those who serve in the military through the Veterans Bill of Rights Act.

"America's 250th anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on the generations of veterans who have defended the freedoms and principles that define our nation. From the patriots of the Revolutionary War to those serving today, these brave men and women answered the call to protect liberty, often at great personal sacrifice. We owe them a debt of gratitude, and we honor their legacy by ensuring future generations understand that freedom is never guaranteed-it must be defended, preserved, and passed on," said Senator Ashley Moody.

• During the conventions, Senator Moody announced she is cosponsoring new legislation to support veterans. The Veterans Bill of Rights Act would require the U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs to ensure veterans are clearly informed of their existing rights regarding VA-administered health care, benefits, and services.
• Senator Moody also acknowledged today is Women's Veterans Day, and honored the women who have served in the U.S. military. Earlier this year, Senator Moody greeted an all-female Flight of Honor of veterans at the Lincoln Memorial.
• Senator Moody is a proud supporter of the U.S. Armed Forces, veterans, and military families. Since becoming a United States Senator, Moody has:
  • Cosponsored the Military Spouse Hiring Act to address difficulties servicemembers' families face when looking for work;

  • Introduced Drone Espionage Act to crack down on spying through video surveillance of military installations;
  • Supported the Veterans Education and Technical Skills (VETS) Opportunity Act, which would expand educational benefits for veterans;
  • Supported the Restore VA Accountability Act of 2025, which would help ensure that only the most dedicated individuals can serve veterans;
  • Held a town hall with VA Secretary Collins in Tampa to discuss issues facing veterans;
  • Requested President Trump to send F-35As to Homestead Air Reserve Base;
  • Recognized 200 years of U.S. Navy presence in Pensacola and discussed the critical importance of the Navy and Coast Guard's presence in the Florida Panhandle; and more.
• Last year, Senator Moody secured major funding for Florida's military bases through her work on the National Defense Authorization Act, totaling over $851 million aimed to support shipbuilding, delivery of next-generation aircraft, and construction of Golden Dome missile defense.
