UH Conneaut and Geneva Medical Centers Recognized for 5-Star Nurse Communication

CLEVELAND - University Hospitals Conneaut and Geneva medical centers have been named among the top hospitals in the country for nurse communication by Becker's Hospital Review, one of the nation's most respected healthcare industry publications.

This honor is based on publicly reported Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), which measures patients' perceptions of care, including how well nurses communicate with them. Becker's compiled the list from hospitals that received a five-star rating for nurse communication, reflecting exceptional patient feedback on how clearly nurses explain things, how carefully they listen, and the respect and courtesy they show to patients. These ratings are collected through standardized patient experience surveys and nationally reported by CMS.

This prestigious recognition underscores both hospitals' commitment to a culture of relationship-centered care, where compassionate communication is at the heart of every patient interaction.

To celebrate this achievement, nursing teams and leadership came together for a joyous celebration featuring:

  • Recognition pins for team members
  • Commemorative t-shirts
  • Certificates of achievement
  • Special leadership acknowledgements

The celebrations were a tribute to the dedication, professionalism and human connection demonstrated by nurses every day.

"This recognition is a powerful testament to the excellence in human caring that defines our nursing teams," said Ashley M. Carlucci, DNP, MHA, RN, CEN, CENP, Market Chief Nursing Officer. "Our caregivers show up with compassion, integrity, and respect in every interaction, and our patients are the ones who feel it most. I'm incredibly proud of our teams, and deeply grateful to be part of a community that values exceptional nursing care as a cornerstone of health and healing."

UH continues to prioritize investment in nursing excellence, teamwork and patient-centered communication as foundational to outstanding care outcomes. This national recognition celebrates not just a data point, but the people who make it possible.
