The City of Columbia Historic Preservation Commission is now accepting applications for the Most Notable Properties Program.
The City will recognize selected homes for their contributions to preserving the history of Columbia.
Interested parties can obtain application forms online at CoMo.gov/boards/historic-preservation-commission/most-notable-properties-program/. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Dec. 30.
The HPC Most Notable Properties designation is open to properties over 50 years old and located within the City of Columbia limits. Properties may be a house, a park or a workplace that is used residentially, industrially or commercially; they may be endangered or derelict, recently restored, or just nicely maintained.
It does not matter whether a property is modest or grand, hidden away or in public view, as long as it plays a part in the historical and architectural influences that help shape Columbia's identity.
The City will review any property nominated to the Most Notable Historic Property program for historic, cultural or architectural importance. Afterward, the commission will determine finalists for 2027. Once the commission selects the finalists, the City will notify winning property owners by email. The commission will schedule all properties for a visit for photographic documentation and historic research.
The City has held this event since 1998, and recognized nearly 220 properties.
