Senator Marshall Joins Newsmax's The Big Take with Ed Henry

Washington - U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), joined Newsmax's The Big Take with Ed Henry to discuss the rise of Marxism in the Democrat party, ending the Iran War, gas prices across the country, passing the SAVE America Act, illegal immigrant voters in New Jersey, and the woke agenda being pushed in the Smithsonian museums.

On the rise of Marxist Democrat candidates:

"Well, run, Kamala, run, and all these communists - they're certainly at least Marxists. So, the mainstream Democrats today are socialists, right? Socialists want bigger government, higher taxes; they've got a government program for everything - that's your mainstream Democrats. So, here's this new group of folks that are certainly left of them - Marxists who want to blow up everything. They don't want borders; everyone should get amnesty - you know - free food for everybody. Free, free, free. And that's really hard to run against as a conservative Republican. But certainly, these Marxists out there, I think, help Republicans in the long term. Mainstream Americans want no part of Marxism."

On the strategy to end the Iran War:

"Look, I feel really comfortable with what the strategy is right now. Remember, I have these three basic goals. Number one is Iran cannot have nukes, next is no boots on the ground, and then thirdly is we need to pay attention to the price of gas and groceries. Now, Ed, I hate war. President Eisenhower once said, 'I hate war as only a soldier who lived it can.' My dad served, my brother served, I served, my son is serving. Look, I don't want war, but I think the benefits of eliminating Iran with any nuclear weapons for generations to come is worth the price. And I just deeply mourn the loss of 18 soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. And I'm so grateful for the hundreds of thousands of Americans who paid the price for freedom, and unfortunately, you know, freedom is not free. So, I'm hanging in there with the president, but we got to rip the band-aid off and get this taken care of and done sooner than later."

On gas prices in America:

"Yeah, well I think that's the number one challenge right now. You can just see our polling numbers go up or down based upon the price of gasoline. Thank goodness we have American energy independence. At least we're not depending on foreign countries right now as well. So as soon as this Iran conflict is over, we'll see that price come plummeting down again as well. But I'm concerned about it, I have empathy towards the situation, and that's why I'm hoping the President can just get this finished sooner than later."

On the SAVE America Act and illegal immigrants being registered to vote in New Jersey:

"Well, look, we have certainly at least 50 votes that would vote for some form of the SAVE America Act. Republicans are in favor of voter ID, in favor of proof of citizenship, and putting guardrails around mail-in ballots as well. But again, it takes 60 votes. That's the challenge over here - it takes 60 votes. The question we should be asking is: why won't one Democrat - let alone even 10 of them - vote in favor of voter ID? I think we should put these on one at a time on the Senate floor and for a whole week make the Democrats explain why they're against voter ID, why they're against proof of citizenship. Why do they think that unsolicited ballots going out to dead people, people that have moved, and canceling out my ballot - why that's a good idea or not. So, I do think that the Republicans want the SAVE Act, but how do we get there with the 60 votes remains the challenge."

On a woke agenda in the Smithsonian museums:

"Yeah, Ed. Well, I think the last thing we need is the Smithsonians masquerading as DEI propaganda programs. And if I could just share a quick story of when I became a patriot. Second year of med school, my wife and I have our first baby. We don't have any money - my dad had served, brother had served, so I said it's my turn to serve; we need to get some money. So, we went to join the military. We did our basic training at Fort Belvoir, just down the river from Mount Vernon, and we spent all that summer. We would go to one Smithsonian at a time and spend an evening, an afternoon, a day there, and that's when I became a patriot. So, the last thing we need is history being distorted. Just present American history just as truthfully as you can with all of our warts, with all of our sins, and then let we the people decide how to interpret that. But I think that that's an America First agenda that I believe in, and so I just couldn't be more disappointed that these DEI programs are for real. Since 2014, the Smithsonians have had a DEI program and agenda; they're implementing it. They do have exhibits that push boys as girls and then making illegal aliens here citizens, that type of thing. So, they do have a DEI agenda; it makes me sick. Let's just teach American history with Christian values."
