Celebrating 250 Years of American Freedom
This Fourth of July marks a historic milestone as our nation celebrates 250 years since the birth of the United States of America.
Two and a half centuries ago, ordinary men with extraordinary courage pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to establish a nation founded on liberty, self-government, and God-given rights. Their bold declaration changed the course of human history and created the greatest nation the world has ever known.
As we gather with family and friends to celebrate America's birthday, we should remember that freedom is never guaranteed. Every generation has a duty to defend the Constitution, preserve our sovereignty, and protect the blessings of liberty for those who come after us.
The American spirit has endured wars, hardship, and countless challenges because our people have never stopped believing in the promise of this nation.
May God continue to bless Arizona, and may God forever bless the United States of America.
Happy Independence Day!
Test Your Knowledge of American History
As America celebrates its 250th birthday, there's no better time to reflect on the remarkable events that shaped our nation.
The New York Times recently published a fun history challenge that asks players to place 25 major events from American history in the correct chronological order-one from every decade since our nation's founding.
Whether you're a history buff or simply looking for a patriotic activity to enjoy with your family over the holiday weekend, it's a great way to celebrate America's incredible journey over the last two and a half centuries.

One Year Later: Republicans Delivered for Arizona
One year ago this week, President Trump signed the Working Families Tax Cut Act into law, fulfilling a promise to put American workers and taxpayers first.
The results are already making a difference across Arizona.
Families are keeping more of what they earn through lower taxes, expanded tax relief for seniors, a larger Child Tax Credit, and no taxes on qualifying tips and overtime pay. Small businesses now have the certainty to invest, expand, and create jobs here at home.
The legislation also included one of the accomplishments I am most proud of. After years of fighting on behalf of Arizona's downwinders, my legislation to reauthorize and expand the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) was included in the Working Families Tax Cut Act and signed into law.
For decades, too many families in Mohave County and across the West who unknowingly suffered harmful radiation exposure from our nation's Cold War nuclear testing were denied justice because of arbitrary government boundaries. With RECA now extended and expanded, many additional downwinders are finally receiving the compensation and recognition they have long deserved.
America's strength has always come from hardworking citizens-not Washington bureaucrats. One year later, it's clear that putting taxpayers first, rewarding work, and keeping our promises has made Arizona stronger.
Honoring Fallen American Heroes
On a somber note, this week, our nation mourned the heartbreaking loss of three courageous wildland firefighters who gave their lives protecting others in western Colorado: Emily Barker, Sydney Watson, and Nick Hutcherson of Glendale, Arizona.
Nick was just 27 years old.
These brave Americans ran toward danger so others could live in safety. Their selfless sacrifice reminds us that the blessings of liberty are preserved not only by those serving overseas, but also by the first responders who put their lives on the line here at home.
We pray for their families, for the firefighters who were injured, and for every man and woman continuing the difficult battle against devastating wildfires.
Arizonans also remember the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting the people of Yarnell thirteen years ago this week. Their courage, selflessness, and devotion to duty will never be forgotten.
The best way to honor these heroes is to give our firefighters the resources they need and reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires. That's why I continue urging the Senate to pass the Fix Our Forests Act without delay.
May God bless these fallen heroes, their loved ones, and the United States of America.
