On 16 March 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Edwin Tong, Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs of Singapore, on the sidelines of the Global Fraud Summit in Vienna.

Both sides exchanged views on online scams, recognizing its threat and the complexity in suppressing it, as transnational criminal groups utilize technology and artificial intelligence to propel their networks swiftly and with global reach. Both sides agreed that political will, commitment to the rule of law, and international cooperation, as well as cooperation between the public and private sectors, especially service providers, financial institutions, and social media firms, are essential to effectively tackle these crimes.

Both sides also welcomed the close cooperation between Thailand and Singapore, especially in regards to information- and intelligence-sharing between law enforcement agencies. Both Ministers also discussed the possibility of working together to develop new mechanisms to combat fraud and online scams at the bilateral and regional levels, particularly within the ASEAN framework as Singapore will assume Chairmanship in 2027, in order to elevate cooperation on effectively combating these crimes.
