Ambassador of Thailand to the Holy See with residence in Bern, and Abbot of Amaravati Buddhist Monastery symbolically handed over 2 exemplars of the 80-volume set of the World Tipiṭaka Saj-jhā-ya to His Holiness Pope Francis

On 18 September 2024, H.E. Mr. Chittipat Tongprasroeth, Ambassador of Thailand to the Holy See with residence in Bern, and Venerable Phra Rajabuddhivaraguna (Amaro Bhikkhu), Abbot of Amaravati Buddhist Monastery (United Kingdom), President and Honorary Advisor for the Monastic Division for the Project to Disseminate the Tipiṭaka Saj-jhā-ya Editions, symbolically handed over 2 exemplars of the 80-volume set of the World Tipiṭaka Saj-jhā-ya Phonetic Recitation 2016, the King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit Commemorative 2016 Editions: A Gift of Peace and Wisdom for All, to His Holiness Pope Francis during the General Audience at St. Peter's Square, Vatican. Afterwards, the Ambassador of Thailand and Venerable Phra Rajabuddhivaraguna (Amaro Bhikkhu) handed over the 80-volume set to H.E. Monsignor Vincenzo Zani, Archivist and Librarian of Holy Roman Church, and Reverend Don Mauro Mantovani, Prefect of the Vatican Apostolic Library, at the Vatican Apostolic Library.

The handover of the said World Tipiṭaka Saj-jhā-ya Phonetic Recitation 2016 Editions to the Vatican is part of the numerous projects to celebrate the 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua (28 July 2024) and is a collaboration between the World Tipitaka Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. The handover also coincided with the 64th Anniversary of the visit of their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother to the Vatican as well as the 55th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Holy See this year.
