Consul General Chen Shijie attended the final of 2025 "Cultures of China Water Cube Cup" Chinese Song Contest on 11May, hosted by the New Zealnd Huaxing Art Troupe. Member of Parliament Lawrence-Xu Nan, New Zealand-China Friendship Society Auckland Branch Vice President Leo de Graff, along with relatives and friends of the contestants, representatives from the local Chinese community joined the event.
In his remarks, Consul General Chen pointed out that "Water Cube Cup" Chinese Song Contest is an important brand for the overseas promotion of Chinese culture well received by overseas Chinese. It has witnessed the hard work of fellow compatriots in the consular district for cultural exchanges and passed-on friendship between China and New Zealand. He hopes that the contestants continue to tell stories of China with music, and contribute to the development of the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.
The contest is composed of adult group and junior group, with a total of 22 contestants. Consul General Chen presented certificates to the judges and awarded the champion of the junior group.
