The Department of English will host a watch party for a New York City production of Lord Byron's 1821 play "Sardanapalus." on Monday, Oct. 28, at 6:30 p.m. in Cudahy 118. The two-hour recording includes a live post-production Q&A with actors in New York City's Red Bull Theater production.
After the screening, participants are encouraged to stay for a discussion about the play. The watch party is supported by the Keats-Shelley Association of America, which is sponsoring similar watch parties around the world.
Set in ancient Assyria, the play examines the tragic fall of the last Assyrian king and his decadent reign while exploring questions concerning love, gender and politics that continue to concern us today.
More information about the play and the Red Bull Theater production is available on the theater's website.
Contact Dr. Melissa Ganz or Dr. Ben Pladek for questions about the event.
