Professor Position at the Center for Data-Driven Science and Artificial Intelligence

The Center for Data-driven Science and Artificial Intelligence at Tohoku University is recruiting for the following position:

Job Description

The successful candidate should be committed to developing and disseminating contemporary AI literacy education, and they will be tasked with the following responsibilities:

  • Formulating and implementing university-wide educational programs in mathematical sciences, data science, and AI literacy, along with the delivery of corresponding courses
  • Designing, deploying, and managing an advanced learning environment that utilizes information technologies for comprehensive academic use across the university
  • Engaging in collaborative research, both domestic and international, within the fields of information science and information engineering - including AI, data science, and computer science.
  • Advancing and disseminating Advanced Mathematics, Informatics, and Data Science (AIMD) through inter-university partnerships and active participation in consortiums dedicated to strengthening education in mathematical sciences, data science and, AI
  • Contributing to Tohoku University's cooperative graduate-level programs and supervising graduate students' research and thesis writing.

Qualifications

  • A relevant doctoral degree
  • A record of research in information science of information engineering
  • Experience teaching information science of information engineering, as well as supervising graduate theses
  • Proficiency in both Japanese and English regardless of nationality

To address emerging global challenges and expand new opportunities, there is a growing need for people skilled in data science and AI. In response, Tohoku University established the Data-Driven Science and AI Education and Research Center in October 2019 to develop human resources who can lead a data-driven society through advanced education and research in mathematical sciences, data science, and AI.
