Skiers have something to look forward to. Next week, the High Tatras will see the opening of Slovakia's highest-altitude ski run - at Lomnické sedlo (saddle), located at 2,190 metres above sea level. The last time skiing was possible in Lomnické sedlo was on 1st May 2024.
"We took the snow groomer up to the slope already back in January, and we have carefully compacted every fresh snowfall since then," said Dušan Slavkovský, General Manager of the Vysoké Tatry mountain resort. "At the same time, we have made use of the natural terrain features where snow accumulated during periods of snowfall and strong winds, and have been redistributing it onto the piste. We are now finalising preparations to bring the slope into its best possible condition ahead of the planned opening on 3rd March. It will be a welcome treat for those enjoying the spring school holidays and a thank-you to all skiers for their patience. I would also like to extend my thanks to the entire Lomnické sedlo team for the tremendous amount of work they have put in."
As in previous seasons, skiing in Lomnické sedlo will be available exclusively on natural snow. The open profile will depend on the current snow conditions. Ski passes are available as always at gopass.travel.
