DATE AND TIME OF INCIDENT: 10/24/26 at 4:43 AM
LOCATION OF INCIDENT: 1300 block E. Main St., El Cajon, CA
SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On Saturday, October 24, 2026, at approximately 4:43 AM, the El Cajon Police Department received reports of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 1300 block of E. Main St. Officers responded to the emergency call with Heartland Fire. The pedestrian, an unidentified man, had been lying in the street in the 1300 block of E. Main when a westbound vehicle struck the man. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. It is unknown why the man had been lying in the street. The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with investigators. DUI does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
Officers closed the roadway for several hours while they investigated the scene.
