What is sensory play?

Sensory Play includes activities that stimulate a child's senses - touch, sight, sound, movement, and more. These experiences help support:

  • Brain development
  • Language and motor skills
  • Emotional regulation
  • Social interaction and confidence

Sensory play is beneficial for all children, including those who may be sensory-seeking, sensory-sensitive, or just love to explore.

High sensory activities are on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday each month: Visit for movement, textures, messy play, music, and active exploration.

Low sensory activities are on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday each month: Visit for calm activities, soft textures, gentle sounds, and quiet play options.

Special Sensory Play Group Events in July

  • July 7: Obstacle course
  • July 14: Dinosaur Dig
  • July 21: Water Day
  • July 28: Finger Painting

The Sensory Play Group is hosted by Schuyler County Public Health and the Schuyler County Youth Bureau. For more information call the Family Play and Resource Center at 607-535-6236.
