Hillsboro community members will soon have more places to play futsal!
Two lighted and fenced futsal courts are coming to Dairy Creek Park, bringing more opportunities for recreation, gathering, and active play in the park.
Construction on the courts began in late June 2026 and is expected to be complete in fall 2026.
The courts will feature artworks painted by Ana Gabriela-Honsowetz, a regional muralist selected from the Hillsboro Mural Artist Roster. The design for the artworks will be shared in July and painting will take place this fall.
Futsal, a fast-paced version of soccer played on a smaller court, is a popular and growing sport and holds strong cultural significance throughout Latin America. The new courts will provide a welcoming space for players of all ages and skill levels to practice, play, and connect.
The Hillsboro Parks & Recreation Department hosted a community open house to gather feedback on the courts in February 2025. The project is supported by funding from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund and Oregon's Local Government Grant Program.
The Parks & Recreation Department applied for the grants in partnerships with local partners Hillsboro Futsal and Hillsboro Rush.
Located on the west side of Hillsboro, Dairy Creek Park opened in May of 2005. This 22-acre Community Park includes six acres of developed area and eighteen acres of a large natural area.
The developed portion has two small picnic shelters and soft-surface pathways that provide access to the natural area along the creek. Additional amenities include:
The addition of futsal courts reflects Hillsboro's commitment to providing recreation opportunities that meet the interests and needs of its growing and diverse community.
