MAPP/OAS Renews International Certification and Reaffirms Its Commitment to Peace in Colombia

December 10, 2025

The Mission to Support the Peace Process in Colombia of the Organization of American States (MAPP/OAS) has once again received the international certification that endorses its knowledge management system, granted by the Mexican entity NEMT REGISTER, S.A. de C.V.

This recognition is awarded under the ISO 30401:2019 standard, the international benchmark that defines the requirements for implementing, maintaining, and improving knowledge management systems in organizations. Its purpose is to ensure that information and lessons learned are managed responsibly, effectively, and with added value for decision-making and institutional work.

For more than two decades in Colombia, MAPP/OAS has carried out monitoring, accompaniment, and technical assistance activities, accumulating relevant experiences and knowledge alongside communities and institutions. This knowledge enables a comprehensive understanding of the challenges associated with consolidating peace and strengthens the Mission's capacity to contribute to peacebuilding in regions most affected by violence.

"This achievement belongs to every member of the Mission. It is a milestone that would not have been possible without the knowledge generated through the work of our 15 regional offices, three mobile teams, and headquarters in Bogotá," said Roberto Menéndez, Chief of Mission, who expressed gratitude for the OAS's support of this initiative.

The certification confirms that MAPP/OAS has a solid and dynamic system to preserve and apply the knowledge derived from direct work with communities, local authorities, and institutional counterparts. This accomplishment ensures the Mission's relevance in Colombia and reinforces the OAS's role as a reference for innovation and preparedness in facing peace-related challenges across the hemisphere.
