Registration Now Open for Fiscal Future Summit on October 30

Anchorage Assembly Members Anna Brawley and Erin Baldwin Day are proud to announce the MOA Fiscal Future Summit on Friday, October 30 at the UAA Student Union. The summit, which is open to the public and free to attend, invites community members to learn about the Municipality's finances and talk with neighbors about the community's funding priorities and how we pay for local services residents and businesses rely on.

"Strengthening the Municipality's fiscal future is a policy choice that deserves our attention beyond the annual budget cycle," said Assembly Chair Anna Brawley. "Our local government belongs to everyone who lives here and we have big decisions to make together. Anyone who cares about the future of our streets, our sidewalks, our libraries, our parks, our neighborhoods and our community is welcome to join the conversation."

About the Summit
The Fiscal Future Summit is an all-day event for people of all levels of enthusiasm for local government to learn how the municipal budget works, ask questions, share perspectives, consider trade-offs, and identify fiscal priorities for the future. Previous MOA budget experience is not required. Lunch will be provided and while registration is not required, it is encouraged for attendees to receive event updates.

Background
In the past year, several Assembly Members hosted community conversations about the municipality's budget, funding history, and current challenges, including the Our Muni, Our Budget workshops presented by Assembly Chair Brawley and Member Baldwin Day, community presentations on the budget from Members Goecker and Martinez, and the upcoming North Anchorage Talks Budget sessions hosted by Assembly Member Sydney Scout.

The Fiscal Future Summit builds on those conversations. On September 1, the Anchorage Assembly approved AR 2026-255 to engage the community in long-term education and strategic visioning about the municipal budget. The Fiscal Future Summit is one cornerstone of the initiative, which will continue into 2027.
