Quick Guides launched under the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change to support climate adaptation action

Developed by REGILIENCE+ under the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change, the Quick Guides for Climate Adaptation transform regional experience and expertise into practical support for local and regional authorities. Each guide focuses on a major climate risk - from floods and water scarcity to heatwaves, storms, and snow and ice - and provides concrete actions that can be implemented on the ground.

Across Europe, local and regional authorities are facing the impacts of increasingly frequent and severe climate hazards. Heatwaves, wildfires, severe droughts, and floods threaten public health, disrupt supply chains, damage critical infrastructure, and jeopardise regional economic competitiveness. At the same time, authorities are being asked to strengthen preparedness and accelerate adaptation efforts across a wide range of climate risks all while facing limited budget concerns.

The challenge is rarely a lack of information. Guidance, tools, case studies, and research already exist across numerous platforms and projects. Finding the right resources and turning them into practical next steps is often far more difficult.

Regional and Local Authorities are using REGILIENCE+'s new quick guides to quickly respond to climate threats and drive competitiveness in their region. Covering eight key hazards affecting European regions, including Flash Floods, River Floods, Coastal Floods, Storms, Droughts, Ice and Snow, Heatwaves and Wildfires, the guides bring together practical information in a concise and accessible format.

Each guide is designed to support action on the ground. They empower technical staff and decision-makers to rapidly assess risks, learn from adaptation efforts already underway across Europe, deploy proven adaptation measures, and unlock financing opportunities. QR codes throughout each guide provide direct access to tools, platforms and further resources, making it easier to explore solutions and identify practical next steps for your region.
