Senator Schmitt Statement on the Passing of Pope Francis
WASHINGTON - Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO), the first Catholic Republican elected to the United States Senate by the state of Missouri, released the following statement after the passing of Pope Francis early this morning:
"Pope Francis was a dedicated servant of God and was devout in his efforts to spread the good news of Jesus' great works while showing great compassion for those in need. As a Catholic I am sad to hear of his passing this morning. Please join Jaime and me as we pray for Pope Francis, the Catholic community across the United States and world, and all those who loved him," said Senator Eric Schmitt.
