Congressman Robert Garcia, Long Beach Leaders Break Ground on Studebaker Road Transportation Project

LONG BEACH, CA - Today, Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) joined local leaders at the groundbreaking of the long-anticipated Studebaker Road Transformation Project. This landmark investment in one of the city's major transportation corridors was made possible in part because of federal funds, including over $1 million in Community Project Funding secured by Congressman Garcia.

"The Studebaker Road Transformation Project is an excellent example of the power that collaboration between federal, state, and local governments has to connect our communities. I am proud to have delivered funding for this important corridor revitalization," said Congressman Robert Garcia. "This project will make the road safer, more sustainable, and more accessible for all."

The project, which is expected to finish construction in 2027, will include roadway resurfacing, safer intersections, new bikeways, landscaped medians, ADA-compliant sidewalks and ramps, and improved bus facilities. These key features will improve neighborhood connectivity, pedestrian and bike mobility, transit access, and increase street safety.

Congressman Garcia has always fought to improve our community's transportation infrastructure. In 2024, Congressman Garcia led the Los Angeles County delegation to advocate for funding for Metro's Southeast Gateway Line Project. Congressman Garcia also helped secure over $283 million in federal grant money for the completion of the North Rail Yard Expansion and the South Rail Yard Expansion at the Port of Long Beach, which is estimated to create over 13,000 jobs nationwide. Congressman Garcia led efforts to secure funding for Los Angeles and Long Beach transit systems in preparation for the 2028 Olympics. As Mayor of the City of Long Beach, his signature ballot initiative, Measure A, launched the largest infrastructure repair program in a generation, promoting good-paying union jobs.
