"QUT has the largest work-integrated learning program to connect students to more than 100 industry partners, business and government organisations," he said.

QUT School of Computer Science head of school Professor Raja Jurdak said the new majors were designed to reflect the diverse areas in Information Technology and the importance of students specialising in these areas for career readiness.

"For example, the new AI major prepares students for a world where automation and AI are central to all industry sectors," Professor Jurdak said.

"The new cyber security major trains the next generation of security specialists that can protect our IT systems and critical infrastructure."

Justice

The School of Justice has three new majors for the Bachelor of Justice. They are*:

  • Investigations and Intelligence
  • Criminology and Violence Prevention
  • Policy, Politics and Social Reform.

QUT School of Justice head of school Professor John Scott said the new majors would focus on investigations in and out of the criminal justice system, violence prevention and how to evaluate and write effective policy.

"Students in the new majors will use the latest technology to enable complex investigations," Professor Scott said.

"Or they will learn to prevent crime and stop the cycle of violence to keep families and communities safe, or how to support vulnerable communities to make a difference at the highest levels.

"Students will also have the opportunity to choose two of these three majors, for greater impact."

Three seminars on these new majors will be held at the Kelvin Grove campus at 9am and at 1pm in N Block, level 5, room 519; and at 11am in W Block, level 2, room 201.
