JOIN Dayspace Expands Hours in Partnership with City of Portland

JOIN, a regional nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, is expanding the hours and days of operation for its Dayspace program through a new partnership with the City of Portland. This expansion will increase access to safe, supportive daytime space for Portlanders in need.

JOIN Dayspace is located at:
1435 NE 81st Avenue, Suite 100, Portland, OR 97213

Beginning the week of September 22, JOIN Dayspace will operate:

  • Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Starting October 4, JOIN Dayspace will also open on weekends from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

"This partnership demonstrates the City's commitment to providing tangible, everyday support for Portlanders experiencing homelessness," said Skyler Brocker-Knapp, Director of Portland Solutions. "Extending JOIN's hours and services means more people will have access to safety, stability, and connection during the day.Day centers are a critical step toward implementing long-term solutions during this crisis."

JOIN Dayspace offers people a welcoming environment with access to restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, meals, and a supportive community. Additional services include assistance with employment, housing assessment and navigation, service navigation for health care and substance use needs, connections to partner organizations, support in obtaining vital documents, and access to a stable mailing address.The expanded hours reflect the growing demand for daytime services as well as the City's investment in strengthening the social safety net.

"We know that having a safe place to go during the day is just as important as shelter at night," said Monta Knudson, Executive Director of JOIN. "With this expanded schedule, made possible through our partnership with the City of Portland, we are better able to meet people where they are and help them move toward stability."
