Fats, Oils and Grease Fee in Effect Oct. 1

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Sept. 1, 2026) - In an effort to better protect the sewer system, a fats, oils and grease (FOG) fee will apply to food service establishments starting Thursday, Oct. 1. A $10 FOG Program fee will apply to monthly utility bills of customers that have grease control equipment that manages cooking byproducts.

This board-approved fee will support the FOG Management Program and compliance measures including routine inspections of grease traps and interceptors.
