Rosen Highlights Available Resources for Nevadans Impacted by Hawk Wildfire

RENO, NV - As first responders continue to combat the Hawk Fire in Washoe County, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) is highlighting the federal and local resources that are available to Nevadans being impacted. "When disasters like these strike, it is critical that we come together as a community to support each other," said Senator Rosen. "That's why I'm releasing a list of resources Nevadans can use during this time, and reminding everyone that my office stands ready to provide any assistance with federal agencies. My heart goes out to the families in Washoe County who are being affected by the Hawk Fire, and I urge everyone to continue heeding the evacuation orders and directions from first responders. I'll do everything I can to ensure we get the federal resources needed as a result of this tragedy."

Food Assistance

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture has given Nevadan SNAP recipients affected by wildfires more time to report loss of food and request replacement SNAP benefits, with the last day to submit now being August 28th, 2026. For more information, visit: https://www.dss.nv.gov/programs/snap/

Federal Agencies

  • The State Department offers free passport replacements following a major disaster, with all application fees waived up to 18 months after the disaster.
