The Big Hearts for Little Hearts Desert Guild hosted its 24th annual gala, Hearts Full of Hope, on Wednesday, February 11, raising $340,000 in support of Loma Linda University Children's Hospital (LLUCH). The funds will benefit pediatric cancer care and research for children in the Coachella Valley and beyond.
More than 160 guests gathered at The Club at Morningside in Rancho Mirage for an evening celebrating generosity and lifesaving care at LLUCH.
Attendees included board members, loyal donors, community friends, and Loma Linda University Health leaders. The evening also featured a keynote address delivered by Richard Hart, MD, DrPH, president of Loma Linda University Health.
Guests enjoyed fine dining, entertainment, and heartfelt stories that highlighted the healing power of giving.
Among them were the parents of Jaxon Wilhite, who shared the remarkable story of their son, who was born prematurely at just 24 weeks and weighed only 1.2 pounds. Jaxon was transported from the desert to LLUCH for specialized neonatal care that ultimately saved his life.
