Fortunately passers-by activated the emergency stop. MBTA officials and Cambridge Fire companies promptly arrived and the person was extricated without injury.
Always pay attention! Use extra caution with small children, older folks, and animals. If possible, carry small children or small pets. Using the elevator may be a better option.
Be careful with loose fitting clothing or footwear, loose straps, backpacks or bags, or anything that could get caught in the escalator.
Preplan as you approach the escalator. Be mindful of the location of the emergency stop buttons, both at the top and bottom.
BE VIGILANT! ALWAYS USE CAUTION! ESCALATORS ARE UNFORGIVING!
Escalator emergency stop buttons are located both at the top and at the bottom of the escalator
