The McLean County Highway Department is seeking skilled and motivated individuals to join our team as Equipment Operator IIIs. Multiple positions are available. This is an excellent opportunity for those with experience in heavy equipment operation who are looking to advance their careers in public service. Candidates who do not yet meet the full qualifications for Equipment Operator III may be considered for an underfill at the Equipment Operator II level. The new team member must live within 60 minutes travel time of Washburn.
As an Equipment Operator III, or II, you will operate a variety of heavy equipment used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of county roads, bridges, and infrastructure. Work may include snow removal, grading, excavation, and hauling materials. Safety, efficiency, and teamwork are top priorities.
In this role, you can expect to operate equipment such as motor graders, excavators, backhoes, loaders, and dump trucks; perform routine equipment maintenance and safety checks; and follow work orders, maps, and instructions to complete assigned projects.
Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience, a high school diploma, and a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with endorsements as required. Starting base salary range is $59,618.08-$65,432.30 per year (determined by experience); if underfilled at the II level starting base salary range is $52,613.23-$57,752.76. A full benefit package is offered including 100% employer funded health insurance for an individual or family plan; employer funded participation in North Dakota Public Employee's Retirement System retirement program; and paid vacation and sick leave. Candidates hired at the Equipment Operator II level will receive training and may be promoted to Equipment Operator III upon meeting experience and performance requirements.
