Hayward City Hall displays green lights in rotunda to celebrate Veterans Day

November 11, 2025

The interior of the Hayward City Hall rotunda will be illuminated in green tonight beginning at 5 p.m. in recognition of Veterans Day.

This is the last night of Hayward's green light display, which began the evening of Nov. 4. Hayward's display is part of a larger initiative, Operation Green Light for Veterans, which asks America's municipalities to light buildings green to recognize veterans for their service. Operation Green Light is a program of the National Association of Counties and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers.

The Alameda County Veterans Affairs Commission encourages county residents to participate by changing one light bulb at their homes green to encourage discussions between family, friends or even bystanders that see green shining through your window.

For more about Operation Green Light, visit the National Association of Counties website here.
